October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we want to help you do your part to protect yourself and those you love from this disease. This is a fight we all need to face together, so let’s work together for each other.
Each new year over 1 million women (and sometimes men) are diagnosed with breast cancer and almost 500,000 are killed by it. Right now we still don’t know enough about any form of cancer to cure it, so early detection and traditional treatments are our best tools for winning this fight.
Every month, you should examine your breasts. Be sure to do it at the same time each month, as they have slight changes from month to month. Learn how they feel now so you can tell if an abnormality comes up. If you find one, don’t wait to call your doctor when you’re more certain. Call them immediately and schedule an examination. It’s much better to be safe than sorry.
Breast cancer needs to be fought by all of us together. Remind your friends to examine themselves and to visit their doctors. Post to social media. Remind your doctor to talk to other women about it. Talk to husbands and remind them to speak to their wives. We’re all in this together.
